Wow-My Home town got hit hard by Wilma

It has been pretty devastating for me regarding the Florida Keys being hit by Hurricane Wilma. The storm went Northwest of the island chain but the storm surge had some pretty good damage. The water washed peoples possessions, totaled cars and so on. Many have to start over. I saw some photo's and Video Clips where the water was almost to the roofs of some cars. I know my old neighborhood was hit very hard with the surge.

I pray for a speedy recovery for the Florida Keys and they would be stronger than ever.

They need to put their trust and faith to God.

Wow, some tough decisions

It seems lately I have been making allot of tough decisions. While I am not going to mention specifics, it sure has been challenging. I need to put my faith in God, so I can make all the right decisions.

Sad Day Yesterday

Yesterday was a double whammy.
  1. 23 years ago, my mother went to be with the Lord. She wasn't well for a long time but with all the challenges, she didn't pull through. I still miss her to this day. Even with her problems, I enjoyed our conversations, joking and so on. She is in a better place.
  2. I just learned yesterday, a close friend of mine from Florida suddenly passed away from a heart attack. He and myself use to bike ride up and down the lower Florida Keys every weekend. Even in his 60's he was in great shape and hard to keep up with. I was at my healthiest point when I rode with him. I am going to get back into biking in his honor this weekend. Not only he was a great friend but a great co-worker. He had passion towards his job and people. He is survived by his wife and kids. He is in a much better place now. Maybe riding his bike in heaven.

Some fun short travel

I experience a couple of nice day trips. Taos New Mexico and Santa Fe. Very cool cities. History, architecture and culture. Nice art galleries, adobe buildings and other fun venues. I enjoyed taking photographs of the two towns. Looking forward to future travel as well.

Cool radio station

There is a cool radio station in Santa Fe known as Blu 102.9fm. They play the best in Blu/Chill music. It is very cool and different. You can even here them on line at http://www.blu1029.com

Wow! It has been a while

I apologize it has been so long since I have put in any journal entries. I have been pretty busy with work and other activities. Time has gone so fast. I hope to have time to myself in the near future. I am really burned out and looking forward to some vacation time.

Stay tuned. I will have more exciting entries. I apologize If I do not have much to say.

Enjoying the March Madness

Some pretty good games in the NCAA Basketball Tournament. The New Mexico Lobos played the worst game I can remember. I was working and was unable to see the game, the highlights looked awful. I have never seen a team score only 11 points in one half.
Vermont upset Syracuse. That was a suprise.
I was happy to see Utah upset Oklahoma.
I am rooting for the Gators to beat Villanova.
Well, time to watch the games.

Learned a Good Lesson Last Night

Last night during Bible Study, we studied on self confidence. There were several verses including Joshua 1:9 how we should be courageous and strong.

We should put our faith and God. Through God, he will see us through anything. I have been lacking in self confidence lately. I have not met up to my expectations. It was a good lesson last night, I really needed the scriptures, encouragement and rebuild my self confidence last night.

I feel so much better now.

Today is my big sad anniversary

February 16, 1976 I was on my way going to school. It was a very foggy morning in a small community in Southern Part of Central Florida. I normally sit in the front part of the school bus but I decided to sit almost all the way back. Second seat from the back to be exact. As our school bus crossed the intersection, our bus was slammed by a semi truck. It slammed at the front end, the engine was upside down and most of the bus's body was off the frame work. I do not remember much. I remember laughing, seeing the bank sign stating 7:38am and 48 degrees. Next thing I knew, someone told me to jump out the back of the smashed school bus. I did jump and was told to lay down between the highway which I did. I was totally dazed. The next thing I saw was a girl laying under neath the school bus. She did survive. 4 kids, killed, bus driver killed and 11 critically injured. Just about everyone was seriously injured. I was the lucky one. The least injured. If I would have sat were I normally would have, I would not be here today typing this blog today. I later remember seeing a friend of mine who I almost sat with, was very badly injured. Kids were crying, teachers were helping with the rescue efforts. The accident happened 200 feet from the Jr. High/High School. I lost one of my best friends from the accident. I was 12 years old and he was 6 years old. 55 kids were on the school bus, 5 dead, 11 very close to death but survived and the rest seriously injured. Several counties were part of the rescue efforts. We were bused (by school bus) to a hospital in Avon Park which was 25 miles north. They had to use the school bus because there were so many injured. We were escorted by the Florida Highway Patrol. 3 hospitals were used. The original word to my parents were, I was missing. I was released from the hospital that day and went home. I was one of the very few that was released that week. I remember that night, we made top story on the CBS Evening News and Top story on the local station out of Tampa as well. My family was in shock to see I survived such a very serious accident. Right front of the bus was burned, engine of the school bus was upside down, the right side was smashed and the other side of the bus popped out from the frame work. The community really pulled together. It was a period I would never forget. There was a bully who picked on me all the time. My first day back to school, he came up to me and said he was so glad that I am ok. He said that several times. We became friends.
I was so blessed. I survived a very serious accident, family and friends pulled behind me and the most important thing of all, God sure was looking out for me. Even though many students were seriously injured, God was looking out for them as well.
I grew up in one special community.

My Super Bowl Pick

Well, tomorrow is the Super Bowl. I pick New England over Philadelphia 24-21. New England has more Super Bowl Experience. Both have good quarterbacks, good defense.
I hope it is a good Super Bowl and no blow out.

New Year and New Beginnings

Well, I will undergo some changes 2005. I will move to a new position with the company that I have worked for 21 years. I have concerns, I want to be successful but if I give 120%, I should be fine. It is always a scary when you make changes. We just have to learn to put our faith in God. He is the solution.

I will also have to replace my car within the next year. Car has done very well, never broken down or even stall. It failed the pollution test on one reading, it is too expensive to really fix. I was given a year extension but will have to replace the car before then. I need prayers on that one as well.

That is it for now. Stay tuned, more postings this week including my Super Bowl Pick.

I will continue to post various subjects, from Sports, Personal Life, Faith and more. There are very few limits.

Take care and God Bless

Bush 2nd term begins

Today President Bush was sworn in. I pray for the leaders and our nation for the next four years. I pray that God will lead the Leaders in the way God wants them to.

Another year starts with a bang

This year is only 20 days old, it is already starting with a bang just like last year.
My car has issues, which should be fine when the works is completed. Spent lots of money.
I just found out from a 3rd source, my job is changing. Can't wait to find out the details.
Had bronchitis. Not again.
Had a fun trip with some friends to Colorado. Went to Wolf Creek Ski Resort. Lots of snow. I do not ski or snow board but still had fun. Beautiful drive to Colorado. Northern New Mexico is just beautiful. Nice tall pine trees, hills or mountains, different scenery than here in the High Desert. New Mexico has so many characters. Low Desert, High Desert, mountain scenery and other characters. If you have not been here, it is worth a visit. It is not all desert like everyone things. Arizona is the same way. Everyone thinks it is all desert when there are so many different climates.
Two sites worth visiting about the southwest.

Happy New Year

It has been a while since I have posted but I am back. I enjoyed my Holidays. Caught the flue but I will be ok.

I am enjoying all the Bowl Games. Right now I am watching Auburn againts Virginia Tech.
I plan to watch the Oklahoma verses Southern California. Good match.

NFL playoffs are about to begin. I think Pittsburgh is going to take it. Good defense. NFC looks weak this year.

Happy New Year.
